New Lock Provides One-and-Done Design for Multi-Trailer Owners
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – CURT, supplier of a complete line of towing products and the leading manufacturer of USA-made custom-fit trailer hitches, recently launched an all-new trailer coupler lock that fits virtually all standard trailer coupler sizes and offers some surprising security measures.
The new universal tri-ball coupler lock #23082 eliminated the need to own a different lock for each trailer a person might own. It has a unique design, comprised of a tri-ball insert and an adjustable pin-style lock. The tri-ball can be inserted into a 1-7/8”, 2” or 2-5/16” coupler, preventing unwarranted trailer hookup and allowing this one lock to fit multiple trailers.
Once installed, the tri-ball lock is highly theft- and tamper-resistant, featuring some unique, built-in safety measures. The tri-ball itself has been constructed from orange glass-filled polymer to be strong and easily visible to discourage potential thieves. However, even if someone were to attempt to remove the lock by force, the tri-ball was actually designed to break off at the safety points. This would leave the inserted ball securely in place and allow it to continue to prevent trailer hookup.
The CURT tri-ball lock was created to protect a trailer while it is parked and left unattended or to prevent crime while hooking up a trailer up to a vehicle. All components were designed to be held together by a convenient lasso lanyard, avoiding lost pieces.
