Bremen, IN (June 16, 2017) – GEN-Y Hitch has been a company for just six years, and yet, in that time, has amassed 8 patents, over 150 dealers located in 45 states, a distribution network in three countries and the sales success of a much longer tenured organization. Now, they can add being chosen as a semi-finalist in the SEMA Launchpad competition to that list.
The SEMA Launchpad, per their website, is “the premiere young entrepreneur automotive competition offering innovators, inventors, and entrepreneurs under the age of 40 a platform at the world’s largest B2B gathering, the SEMA Show, to pitch their business to a panel of iconic industry judges at a live event.”
GEN-Y’s proprietary “torsion” hitch is what gained them this attention, and their owner, Carl Borkholder, will be traveling to Las Vegas later this month to tape his 3-minute video for this initial portion of the semifinals. “I couldn’t be more excited,” said Borkholder. “I know we have an amazing product, but that can be said of many products across the nation. I truly believe that it is the caliber of individual we have working at GEN-Y, and their passion, mixed with our product that has allowed us to be at this level, and I can’t wait to give our customers across the world a chance to vote us into the finals.”
As far as a timeline for the contest goes, SEMA’s website indicates:
- Applications due: May 30, 2017
- Semi-finalists (15) will be selected: June 1, 2017
- Semi-finalists film 3-minute pitch video at SEMA Exhibitor Summit in Las Vegas: June 19-21, 2017

GEN-Y Industries was formed in 2011 by Carl Borkholder who remains the sole member of this Indiana limited liability company based in the Northern Indiana community of Bremen, Indiana. The foundations of GENY Hitch were based upon the involvement of Carl in the recreational vehicle industry centered in nearby Elkhart County, Indiana as well as Carl’s involvement in the ownership and operation of a business which provided commercial tree care services.
